Description
A spectacular antique Edwardian star pendant/ brooch crafted by Garrard in the early 20th Century. The star is fashioned in platinum and 18ct gold with fabulous garlands draped in between each of its eight points. It’s decorated with a dazzling array of bright old mine cut diamonds across the front, rising into a tiered cluster in the centre.
Garrard was established in London in the 1700s and is one of the longest standing jewellers in the world. They were appointed as the first official crown jewellers and have commissioned many pieces for royalty, most notably the Duchess of Cambridge’s sapphire engagement ring and Queen Mary’s consort crown.
The diamonds are exceptionally bright and full of sparkle, with SI 1 clarity – H colour. The largest weighs approx. 0.25ct in the centre with an astonishing 3.85 carat total across the front.
It’s a stunning piece and fitted with a loop and locking pin so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch. It’s even accompanied by its original box with a red leatherette exterior, red velvet interior and silk under the lid marked “By appointment to H.M. The Queen Goldsmiths & Crown Jewellers – Garrard & Co Ltd – W2 Regent Street”.
We recommend you insure for £5,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
