Antique Victorian Diamond Snake Ring Dated 1899

Description

A grand antique Victorian serpent ring from the late 19th century depicting two coiled snakes with three old mine cut diamonds running down each head (approx. 0.46ct total). The diamonds are exceptionally bright and full of life with SI1 clarity – H colour.

Serpent jewellery was popular in the Victorian era, after Prince Albert gifted the young queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. Two entwined snakes came to symbolise an enduring love and friendship.

The ring is modelled entirely in solid 18ct gold and is fully hallmarked and dated Birmingham, 1899 inside the shank.
